14 weeks and counting...

We are happy to report that we had a clean bill of health at our 14 week appointment on Monday. It was a very short visit. No drawing blood or anything, just weight check (still under pre-pregnancy weight), blood pressure check (she said it was perfect), and then a short visit with Dr. Przybysz. We heard the heartbeat for the first time using the doppler. Up until this visit, we had an ultrasound each time, but we knew our next one would be at 18 weeks. I must admit that hearing it on the doppler was NOT quite as exciting as hearing it AND seeing it move on the monitor, but we were so relieved to know that Baby Hardy is still kickin' in there! At 10 weeks, the baby's heartbeat was a quick 165 beats per minnute. According to the old wives tale about heartbeats, this could indicate a girl. However, this time, the heartrate was 155 bpm. Dr. Przybysz even made a comment about how this was on the slower side for 14 weeks, and could indicate a boy! So, now my mom has completely switched gears with the wind and is totally thinking boy. Haha. I'm trying not to get too committed to one gender or the other until we know. Another thing Dr. P mentioned was that Baby Hardy is very active. We could hear it swishing around inside, but I can't feel a thing. They say that I'll be able to feel it in a few weeks.

According to babycenter.com, Baby Hardy is about the size of a lemon from head to bottom (somewhere around 3.5 inches), and weighs only about an ounce and a half. The baby can suck its thumb, make facial expressions, and can even pee! We are excited to finally be out of the first trimester - a third of the way there!

Our 18 week appointment is on October 8th. This will be the big one where they do all the baby's measurements and are able to tell if it is a boy or a girl. Justin and I still haven't come to an agreement about finding out. I'm going to try being civil for a while, but if it doesn't work, I may have to pull the "I'm the one carrying our child and bearing all of this throwing up" card. :-)

Speaking of that, week 14 has NOT been a good week for me in the feeling-good-department. Today is Wednesday, and the 4th morning in a row that I've thrown up. Monday I felt completely lousy, but I seem to be back to my usual self now. Just can't kick the morning sickness! They say that Baby Hardy doesn't feel a thing, but I am ready to lose that not-so-loving feeling that I get every single morning.

Keep the baby and me in your prayers! I'll keep you all posted on the progress!

You could always do what we did. We found out for #1 and not for #2. It was too hard not to find out with Moseley b/c of showers, nursery decorating and clothes buying!

I believe my morning sickness went away at week 15 1/2. It was pretty much overnight, just gone like it had never been. I hope that's how it goes for you. And thanks for your well wishes...I think. =)

Probably doesn't count for much but my vote is that you find out. Maybe you should poll that, too. =)

Thanks for the update! I am sorry you still aren't feeling well. I hope you're able to shake that yucky sickness stuff soon. I think Baby Hardy will be the perfect "all-star" - a physical specimen, an encourager to others AND a great friend. I am pretty sure you should find out if this all-star is a girl or boy so we can be ready! Have a great day!

When Justin experiences morning sickness, bloating, weight gain, incessent peeing, breakouts, weird skin discolorations, labor, childbirth, and stitches in places he'd pass out just thinking about it... THEN Justin may decide to not find out the gender of the baby. Right now he has entirely zero baby rights. Oh, and by the way, you get to name the baby too.

I keep thinking about you and baby Hardy. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know the feeling and want to wish it away for you. Just FYI, Oct. 8th was the day we found out we were having a girl. Have you had any dreams b/c Michael and I both dreamed we were going to have a girl. Well, we'll keeping praying for ya'll. Love ya.

Colton's heart rate was 185 when I was pregnant with him! I don't think you can really tell anything by that. You should find out!!!

Wanted to stop by and say how excited we are for you guys and that I love reading updates.Just want to let you know, don't take the old wives tale to heart becasue if it were true Charlie would be a girl. His heartrate was always between 170 and 180, he was a super active baby and still is.

They told me the same thing about the heartrate, and we were wrong both times. I don't think that one works. However, I had HORRIBLE heartburn and James was born with a head full of hair that never fell out...so I can't help but pretend I believe that wive's tale! :)
